It's one of the most heavily marketed resume tools on the web — Zety articles dominate Google's first page for almost every 'resume example' query — and the builder itself is a polished editor with about 20 templates and a guided fill-in flow. Like its sister products, Zety monetizes through a 14-day trial that auto-renews at $23.70 every 4 weeks (~$25.66/month equivalent) if you don't cancel.

ResumeVA is positioned as the flat-pricing, no-trial alternative. The free tier is fully usable for PDF download, the ATS checker scores against the job description you paste in, and the AI bullet rewriter runs on a generous monthly credit cap. The two products solve the same problem — get a clean modern resume done in under an hour — but the pricing experience and the ATS layer are meaningfully different.

Zety's biggest strength is content suggestions: its editor pulls from a deep library of pre-written bullets organized by job title, and for many users that's the entire reason to pick it over a competitor. The catch is that the suggestions are static templates, not tailored to a specific job description — and downloading the PDF requires the paid trial. ResumeVA bundles the same kind of pre-written bullet library, but layers a live ATS checker and an AI rewriter that adapts bullets to the JD you've pasted in, all available on a free tier with PDF export.

Every comparison on Resumeva follows the same process. The Creative templates use single-column layouts with visual interest from typography and accent colors instead of multi-column nests, so they parse the same as the Classic ones. Every template is downloadable as a PDF for free with no trial.

Customization is comparable. Zety lets you adjust font, color, spacing, and section order. ResumeVA exposes the same plus header style, font pairing, an 'ATS view' that shows you how a parser reads the document, and a 'Recruiter view' that strips color for printed copies. The ATS view is the feature Zety users miss most — it's the diagnostic the Zety editor doesn't include.
