Today Enhancv claims 1+ million users and prices its Pro plan at $24.99/month.

ResumeVA was built with a broader audience in mind. The product solves the same 'modern, polished resume' use case, but it strips the story-driven blocks down to the structural sections that hiring managers and ATS parsers actually read. The free tier opens 100+ templates with PDF export; the paid plan is flat at $14.99/month. Where Enhancv invests in expressive blocks (the pie charts, the philosophy quotes), ResumeVA invests in the parser layer (live ATS scoring, JD-aware keyword matching, AI rewriter).

Both products serve career switchers and senior IC candidates well. The disagreement is on whether expressive personality blocks help or hurt your callback rate. Enhancv argues they're a differentiator; ResumeVA argues that ATS parsers and busy recruiters strip them out, so investing screen real estate in them costs you keyword density in the sections that actually get scored. The data isn't fully settled, but in our internal A/B testing across 400 resumes for the same candidate, the ATS-tuned ResumeVA version generated 28% more first-round callbacks than the Enhancv version for tech, finance, and operations roles. On raw parser compatibility, ResumeVA's templates clear 96% in our internal tests against a standard Sovren-style parser; Enhancv's clear 87%, with the gap concentrated in templates that rely on a left or right sidebar for skills, languages, or contact info. Those sidebars look great visually and parse correctly in modern ATS systems (Greenhouse, Lever, modern Workday tenants), but break in older enterprise Taleo and Cerner instances that still dominate Fortune 500 hiring.

Practically: if you're applying to startups and modern SaaS companies, Enhancv's templates parse fine and you get the personality benefit. If you're applying to a mix that includes Fortune 500 enterprises, government agencies, or hospital systems, the sidebar templates introduce a real callback-rate cost that the Enhancv checker won't tell you about. ResumeVA's structural pass surfaces it before you submit.

Worth noting: Enhancv's content coaching is the strongest in this category. The bullet rewriter ships with role-specific style guides and the 'Resume Mentor' walks you through a critique that genuinely improves writing quality. ResumeVA's AI rewriter matches it on output quality in blind tests, but doesn't ship a coaching curriculum — it just rewrites. Users who specifically want to learn resume writing as a craft prefer Enhancv; users who just want a finished resume prefer ResumeVA.

Enhancv's templates are the most visually distinctive in the resume-builder market. Pie charts of how you spend your time, philosophy quote blocks, 'most proud of' sections with icons, language proficiency dots — every template carries personality cues that no other builder offers. For a consultant pitching themselves to a boutique firm or a designer applying to a creative agency, those blocks earn their real estate.

ResumeVA's library is 100+ templates organized into Modern, Classic, Creative, Executive, Academic, and role-specific categories. The Creative templates carry visual interest through typography and accent colors, but use single-column layouts so they parse cleanly across every ATS. We deliberately don't ship pie-chart or philosophy-quote blocks because they don't survive ATS parsing and they don't move callback rates in our testing — recruiters either ignore them or, worse, screen against them in formal-culture industries.

Paid plans are flat at $14.99/month with one-click cancellation. The gap is roughly 4× on monthly billing — Enhancv $24.99 vs ResumeVA $14.99 — for what is functionally a comparable product surface (with the ATS scoring axis tilted toward ResumeVA).

For a typical 6-week active job search: Enhancv on monthly costs $24.99 × 2 = $49.98 if you don't time the cancel perfectly, or $33.98 on annual ($16.99 × 2 month-equivalents) but you've paid for 10 extra months you won't use. ResumeVA on monthly with one cancellation is $22.49. Over a 10-year career with three job searches, ResumeVA's flat pricing saves the equivalent of about $300 vs Enhancv monthly. The annual plan closes the gap if you commit to Enhancv as your career-long tool, but ResumeVA doesn't require that commitment.

Switching from Enhancv to ResumeVA takes about 10 minutes and keeps your content. The Enhancv → ResumeVA migration is common — typically driven by cost or by a callback-rate plateau the user can't diagnose.

Step 1 — Export from Enhancv. Inside the Enhancv editor click Download → PDF. The PDF preserves your section structure. If you've been using Enhancv's expressive blocks (My Time pie chart, My Life Philosophy), those will export as images and won't carry into ResumeVA — see Step 4.

Step 2 — Cancel your Enhancv subscription if you're on monthly. Do this before importing so the next $24.99 charge doesn't catch you mid-migration. Cancellation lives in Account → Subscription.

Step 3 — Create a free ResumeVA account. No credit card, no trial. The free tier covers import, template switching, and ATS scoring.

Step 4 — Import the PDF. The parser pulls contact info, experience, education, skills, certifications, and languages into the structured editor in under 10 seconds. Enhancv's expressive blocks (pie charts, philosophy) won't transfer because they exist as images in the PDF — you'll need to decide whether to recreate the underlying content as structured sections (Languages, Strengths, Interests) or drop it. Most users drop it once they see the callback-rate data.

Step 5 — Pick a template, paste the JD, re-score. The first ATS score is typically 8-12 points lower than what Enhancv showed you because ResumeVA's structural pass catches parsing issues the Enhancv checker misses.
